March Into Victory - March 2017

His Banner March 2017 March into Victory By Connie Hawkins I like March because it means that spring isn’t far off.   But more than the month of March, I like the word, ‘March’ and all that it can mean.   We were not created to live a life depressed, condemned or ashamed.   We are children of the King not to be defeated by guilt, shame, or remorse.   We are worthy and precious in God’s sight. And because we are His children, we can march into victory! We can march up to the things in our lives that are holding us back, pressing us down and kicked them out of our lives for good.   We can march to a new song, one of joy. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.      If you persevere and keep the faith, He will help you to march into victory!

February 2017

His Banner – February 2017 Connie’s Corner 2017 Already By Connie Hawkins I can’t believe that it’s 2017.   Where has the time gone?   It seems like only yesterday I was a child looking forward to everything a new year would bring…a valentine from someone special, a birthday party or two or three, winter skating and summer cookouts…what’s in store for me in 2017?   One thing I know for sure, God has given us a new year, a new day and a new song to sing.   I want my song to be one of joy, peace and hope.   Whatever lies ahead we do not walk alone. He is ever present.   “Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering 'it will be happier'...” ― Alfred Tennyson

My Wish for You - January 2017

His Banner – January 2017 My Wish for You in the New Year By Connie Hawkins May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills! May love stick to your face like Vaseline, and laughter assault your lips! A smile goes a long way but laughter is contagious – share it! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires; may happiness slap you across the face and may any tears you shed this coming year be tears of joy. May the problems you have or have had forget your home address! In simple words, open the door to your heart and let God come into your life and bless with you wealth, health, peace and happiness – it all begins with Him.                                      May your home and heart be filled with lo...

When He Comes - October 2016

His Banner – October 2016 When He Comes By Connie Hawkins             My late business partner, love to sing.   You’d often hear him humming a tune in the office, around the house or in his car.   One of his favorite chorus’ was “When He Comes.”   He would sing it solo in his church on a Sunday morning, sometimes.   I like the words and the meaning behind them.   In thinking about these words, it reminds me to ready myself for his coming and the holy harmony we shall all enjoy when we get to that heavenly place of joy and peace.   When He Comes Thou shalt know Him when He comes, Not by any din of drums, Nor His manner, nor His airs,   nor by anything He wears. Thou shalt know Him when He comes, Not by His crown or by His gown, But His coming known shall be, By the holy harmony which His coming makes in thee. Thou shalt know Him when He comes, when he comes...

The Law of the Garbage Truck - September 2016

His Banner – September 2016 Connie’s Corner 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.   Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... 'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who  don't.'
