Things I learned from my mother

My mother is celebrating Mother's Day in heaven; even though she is gone from this earth, the things she taught me about life live on. My mother has shown me through her own experiences that in a matter of hours, people who don't even know me can change my life.   I have learned through Mom's example that even when you think you can't give any more you can always muster of the strength you need to help someone else.   With Mom whenever a friend needed her, she was there. Mom taught me to consider my choices wisely that decisions without thought can lead to heartache down the road, that anger incurs wrath, that kindness breeds love.   So always leave your loved ones with loving words-it may be the last time you see them. I remember tough times and rough roads and Mom's teaching that you can go on even when you think you're at the end of your rope.   Mom said, "We are responsible for what we do-no matter how we feel." Mom taught me t...

Step Into Spring

His Banner – April 2017 Connie’s Corner Step into Spring By Connie Hawkins I love any opportunity to declutter and organize my home, office, and life. However, if you are someone that needs a little motivation, what better to motivate you than “stepping into spring cleaning.”   Yes, spring cleaning is important, but before we start on our homes, let’s start with decluttering our hearts.  Get rid of unforgiveness, ignorance, boastfulness, hatred, envy and anything else that might be keeping us in bondage…sweep it all away and concentrate on the things of God. Once we clean up those ungodly things lingering in the deepest, darkest corners of our hearts we can move on to spring cleaning our life.   What can we do different this year to make a difference in the lives of others and in our own life? Take a moment and browse through your calendar. What are you spending most of your time doing? Is your day filled with too many appointments, leaving you with a ...

March Into Victory - March 2017

His Banner March 2017 March into Victory By Connie Hawkins I like March because it means that spring isn’t far off.   But more than the month of March, I like the word, ‘March’ and all that it can mean.   We were not created to live a life depressed, condemned or ashamed.   We are children of the King not to be defeated by guilt, shame, or remorse.   We are worthy and precious in God’s sight. And because we are His children, we can march into victory! We can march up to the things in our lives that are holding us back, pressing us down and kicked them out of our lives for good.   We can march to a new song, one of joy. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.      If you persevere and keep the faith, He will help you to march into victory!

February 2017

His Banner – February 2017 Connie’s Corner 2017 Already By Connie Hawkins I can’t believe that it’s 2017.   Where has the time gone?   It seems like only yesterday I was a child looking forward to everything a new year would bring…a valentine from someone special, a birthday party or two or three, winter skating and summer cookouts…what’s in store for me in 2017?   One thing I know for sure, God has given us a new year, a new day and a new song to sing.   I want my song to be one of joy, peace and hope.   Whatever lies ahead we do not walk alone. He is ever present.   “Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering 'it will be happier'...” ― Alfred Tennyson

My Wish for You - January 2017

His Banner – January 2017 My Wish for You in the New Year By Connie Hawkins May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills! May love stick to your face like Vaseline, and laughter assault your lips! A smile goes a long way but laughter is contagious – share it! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires; may happiness slap you across the face and may any tears you shed this coming year be tears of joy. May the problems you have or have had forget your home address! In simple words, open the door to your heart and let God come into your life and bless with you wealth, health, peace and happiness – it all begins with Him.                                      May your home and heart be filled with lo...
